Happy Halloween!
I have just received word that students are able to participate in a post Halloween pyjama day tomorrow! Students are welcome to wear their pj's, robes, and slippers!
I hope that the weather cooperates for all our little trick or treaters tonight. Enjoy, and be safe.

Scholastic- if you are ordering, the next order is due by Monday for November.

Interviews next week- a reminder to please sign up if you haven't already, as we would like to touch base with all of the parents, and also that Tuesday and Thursday will be early dismissals.

Thank you.
Sincerely,

October Update

October 18, 2013

Dear Parents,
Card making- Wednesday students participated in another multi-age activity which consisted of making a piece of artwork that will eventually be scanned into making cards. You will have the option to purchase at a later date. I will post a few pictures when I have the iPad on Monday.

Photo retakes- a reminder that those will be happening on Monday October 21st

Shake-out- students participated in a BC wide earthquake practice drill yesterday. If you or your child have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Friday October 25 is a Pro-d, so there will be no classes on that day.

Classroom volunteers- the next schedule will be sent home this coming week. Thank you again for your help, as we appreciate how valuable your time is, and if you see there is a time that doesn't work for you, or something comes up, please let us know.

Social Responsibility- we have been talking about our school "Traffic Light" which has 4 levels of behaviour, discussing examples of positive and negative, and how to make good choices in our class and school community.

Choosing- students have done some wonderful work and artwork around Fall and Halloween!

Guided Reading- some students may be getting additional practice sheets in their homework folders related to the unit they are on. Please continue to support your child in being a successful reader.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam and Mrs. Faganello

Harvest Lunch

October 15, 2013

Dear Parents,

Thank you again for sharing some goodies for our Harvest Lunch on Friday. As you can see, students were mixed together with other primary classes, another great way to build community. Laura said it went well, and here are a few pictures.

Harvest Lunch, Guided Reading, etc.

Dear Parents,

Harvest Lunch- students will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Friday October11 by sharing a Healthy Harvest Lunch. Please have your child bring one of the following items:
-fruit ( cut)
-veg (cut)
-cheese (cut)
-crackers
-small healthy muffins
-mini bagels and cream cheese

Students need to bring enough food for about 4-6 children. Food needs to be prepared, cut and ready to share. Please remember not to send anything containing nuts. Feel free to bring in a lunch and join us. We will be harvesting at 11:40 am. The children will also need to bring in a light lunch or snack to eat during their usual lunchtime.

Guided Reading- we understand that sometimes circumstances happen, but just a reminder that guided reading starts right at the second bell, so please continue to help your child be on time in the morning so they don't miss part of the lesson, or get marked absent if they are not at the classroom. Also, students are reminded to take home their guided reading homework, have it signed by a parent, and brought back to be checked by their teacher.
As well, students should have a home reading book from the classroom( which we can help them with if they are not sure of the levels) and record their reading on the sheet in their folder.
Thank you for your assistance.

This week, one of our little themes will be about Thanksgiving, and being thankful.

In Math, will be finishing up with patterns shortly, and moving into Numbers to 100. Feel free to encourage your child to practice their skip counting, both forwards and backwards.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam
