Dear Parents,
Happy Halloween! Enjoy and be safe!
FIELD TRIP - a notice came home this week regarding a field trip for grade 1's and 2's to Grouse Mountain in about two weeks time. Please take a close look at all information on the form and send back with payment as soon as possible so we can allow time to organize drivers.
If you are able to drive, please indicate on the bottom of the permission form.
To qualify for "carpooling" and free parking, you need to have at least 2 students in your vehicle. We are able to have a couple of parents come on the activities with us without additional cost. We are doing this on a first come basis. Other drivers have the option of drop off and pick up, or coming up the mountain to do your own touring.
All parent drivers will need to make sure insurance papers, volunteer driver forms, etc. are up to date with the office please.
Not mentioned on the form, but important to note, students will need to pack a BAG LUNCH on that day.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam

Dear Parents,
Things to note for this week:

2. Spelling- this week, the words are Halloween related. Also, students may be bringing home some Halloween Phonics, which I would like them to complete and bring back by Wednesday at the latest.
3. Halloween- on Friday, as mentioned in a previous Brooksbank Bulletin, students can bring in their costumes to put on in the classroom after lunch and participate in the school parade. As well, students In Area B, which includes us, will be doing an activity between recess and lunch which may require parent help. If you are able to volunteer to help with any of the events on Friday, please sign up on the sheet that is on the edge of our bulletin board when you enter the classroom, or let Laura or I know.
4. Parent-Teacher interviews - will be happening next week. Sign up sheets will be going up most likely by tomorrow in the main foyer as you enter the school. If you are unable to come in personally to sign up, please let us know so we can help you to find a spot. We look forward to seeing all of you to discuss your child's progress. In addition to our usual 2:00 dismissal on Wednesday, Tuesday and Thursday will also be early dismissal days to accommodate interviews.
5. A reminder if you have any remaining special project fees, forms, comfort kits or school supplies to send those in as soon as possible.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

Week of October 6-10
October 7, 2014
Dear Parents,
It was great to meet so many of you last week at our curriculum evening!
Important- we are required to have a PAC rep for our class to be a contact, as well as occasionally send out information. Please let us know ASAP if you are able to do this job as we are still in need of one.
We are off to a busy start. Yesterday was the first day of guided reading, which means students are now bringing home a homework folder and a homework bag that needs to come back to school EACH DAY. Students will also be given reading homework.
Classroom Home Reading- students will choose a levelled book from the shelves near our back table to take home for oral reading practice, as well as recording what they have been reading.
Math- we have been looking at different patterns, developing, comparing, and describing them
Choosing- stations where students will be mixing with kids from other classes in the area, will be starting next week
Harvest Lunch- students in Area B are participating in a harvest lunch on Thursday October 9. Each student was told an item that they need to bring.
Pro-d- with Mark Landry on Friday Oct. 10. No school for students that day
Scholastic- I have placed our first order. The next set of flyers is coming out as well as they have September dates on them? I hope to spread them out further after this month. Also, I am still looking for someone to help out with scholastic ordering.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs.Kam
