Please dress for the weather! Hopefully the downpour that I currently hear on my roof will subside for us for Monday afternoon.

On am academic note, there will also likely be no spelling this week.

Wednesday- reminder that we will be building our gingerbread houses. Please remember your supplies (no nuts please).
Thank you.

Post-Thanksgiving 2015

October 14. 2015

Dear Parents,

We hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend.

This week, the grade ones have started some spelling. Each week they will have a sheet that comes home on Mondays with suggested activities to practice their words. Grade twos will continue to bring home their sheet for word practice each night as well, but please do remind them to bring the spelling notebook back each day as we do use it in the classroom, too.

Our first Student of the Week will be starting next week. A sheet with information will come home with your child when it is their turn.

Also today, students should have brought home their "ME" booklet which I would like them to complete and return by Monday. Please encourage them to draw and colour pictures where space is made available, as well as putting words where spaces are made available.

Field Trip- a thank you to those who volunteered to drive. A notice went home today confirming those drivers. If you have not yet returned your notice and $, please do so as soon as possible.

We-Day- today we had a mini We-Day organized by some staff and several intermediate students on our Do Good committee. Although primary classes only participated in part of the day, we were fortunate to see a young female singer perform, as well as an RnB Dance group. Job well done!

Thank you.

Week of October 5-9, 2015

Dear Parents,

Welcome to October! There are many events coming up as a class and school.

First, very importantly, please note the accidental typo on the Ecology Field Trip notice- we will be going on November 3rd, NOT November 24. And yes, we may need a few parents to stay in addition to the driving.

Other things to note:
Our next scholastic order is due Wednesday October 7th

School Forms- please bring in any remaining forms or funds as soon as possible

Picture Order forms- due by Fri. Oct. 9

A notice went home today about a Harvest Lunch that all classes in Area B will be participating in this Friday. Our request is if you could please send enough vegetables (ready to go) for your child AND 3 other students.

Guided Reading started today. Your children will be coming home with a blue homework bag, and inside of it, a folder, that can now be used to transport notices, homework, etc. These items are to go home and back to school EACH DAY.
Reading homework should be done nightly, signed, and returned for the teacher to check. There is also a sheet to record home reading. Those books will be coming home shortly as well.

Student of the Week- a new twist on our previous "Recognition Assembly" that the whole school participates in.

In Math, we have been working with building and recognizing patterns, and more recently, increasing patterns. Please feel free to ask your child what they have been learning about patterns.

Choosing has also started!

With Thanksgiving approaching, this week we will also be talking about things that we are thankful for.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam

Km Club- we had a second ribbon ceremony today and it was a busy one! Our students have done a great job and many ribbons were earned today, with more on the verge of getting their next one.
We have been fortunate with the weather too! That being said, it might not be a bad idea to send kids with a hat as a little added cover.

This Friday is also our next Recognition Assembly.

Volunteer calendars for June were put into mailboxes today.
