October 28, 2015
Dear Parents,
Halloween- On Friday afternoon there will be a whole school parade where kids will get a chance to show and see each other's costumes, culminating with a gathering in the gym. Students need to be able to pull their costumes on over their clothing in the classroom at the end of lunchtime. We also ask that there are no weapons and no masks.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam

Week of October 26, 2015
Dear Parents,
Hard to believe it is almost the end of October! With that in mind, here are some upcoming events and reminders.
Scholastic- a new order form will be going home tomorrow, with a return date of Friday Oct. 30
Spelling- grade 2's will need their notebooks for tomorrow, and grade 1's will be getting their new lesson sheet for home practice.
Homework Bags- please help your children to make sure they have their homework bags each day, as they are important for Guided Reading, as well as for other school related materials.
Field Trip- a reminder that we are only a week away, and I want to give a thank you in advance to parents who are able to drive and attend with us. Please check with the office for any driver abstract or volunteer forms that need filling put or updating.
Friday- there will be a Halloween Parade in the afternoon with costumes. Further details will come as to how it is going to look.
Parent Teacher interviews- sign up sheets will go up at the beginning of this week. Please SIGN UP for a time, or if you are unable to make it in to the school to do so, please let us know and we can help to do it for you. Nov. 3rd and 5th will be 2:00 dismissals.
Photo Retakes- Nov. 3 They will try to get our students through first thing, before our field trip.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam

Post-Thanksgiving 2015
October 14. 2015
Dear Parents,
We hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend.
This week, the grade ones have started some spelling. Each week they will have a sheet that comes home on Mondays with suggested activities to practice their words. Grade twos will continue to bring home their sheet for word practice each night as well, but please do remind them to bring the spelling notebook back each day as we do use it in the classroom, too.
Our first Student of the Week will be starting next week. A sheet with information will come home with your child when it is their turn.
Also today, students should have brought home their "ME" booklet which I would like them to complete and return by Monday. Please encourage them to draw and colour pictures where space is made available, as well as putting words where spaces are made available.
Field Trip- a thank you to those who volunteered to drive. A notice went home today confirming those drivers. If you have not yet returned your notice and $, please do so as soon as possible.
We-Day- today we had a mini We-Day organized by some staff and several intermediate students on our Do Good committee. Although primary classes only participated in part of the day, we were fortunate to see a young female singer perform, as well as an RnB Dance group. Job well done!

Week of October 5-9, 2015
Dear Parents,
Welcome to October! There are many events coming up as a class and school.
First, very importantly, please note the accidental typo on the Ecology Field Trip notice- we will be going on November 3rd, NOT November 24. And yes, we may need a few parents to stay in addition to the driving.
Other things to note:
Our next scholastic order is due Wednesday October 7th
School Forms- please bring in any remaining forms or funds as soon as possible
Picture Order forms- due by Fri. Oct. 9
A notice went home today about a Harvest Lunch that all classes in Area B will be participating in this Friday. Our request is if you could please send enough vegetables (ready to go) for your child AND 3 other students.
Guided Reading started today. Your children will be coming home with a blue homework bag, and inside of it, a folder, that can now be used to transport notices, homework, etc. These items are to go home and back to school EACH DAY.
Reading homework should be done nightly, signed, and returned for the teacher to check. There is also a sheet to record home reading. Those books will be coming home shortly as well.
Student of the Week- a new twist on our previous "Recognition Assembly" that the whole school participates in.
In Math, we have been working with building and recognizing patterns, and more recently, increasing patterns. Please feel free to ask your child what they have been learning about patterns.
Choosing has also started!
With Thanksgiving approaching, this week we will also be talking about things that we are thankful for.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam
