Week of October 24

Dear Parents,

A few things happening:

As mentioned just previously, our school is currently collecting food and candy donations this week leading up to Halloween. A bin has been set up in the front entrance hallway.
In addition, used batteries are being collected ( the container is currently by our school office).

PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS- those will be happening next week on Tuesday Nov. 1, Wednesday Nov. 2, and Thursday Nov. 3. We are going to both be in attendance on Tuesday, and trying to have both of us here also on Thursday. As per usual, a sign up board will be going up shortly in the main entrance. Please be sure to sign up; if for some reason you are unable to get into the building to sign up, please let us know and we will help with that.

Photo Retakes- those will be coming up on November 4

Halloween- next week already! As in the past, on Monday there will be a school wide parade in the afternoon. Students are asked not to bring weapons of any kind and avoid wearing masks.

Social Studies- one of the things we have been talking a lot about is our individual responsibilities ( largely at home and school) and now branching out into the community, environment, and maybe even globally. I encourage you to talk this subject up with your child at home to start generating some ideas about what they know already.

In math we have moved into counting and basic adding and subtracting concepts. We will be working with larger numbers a bit later.

Home Reading- a reminder that tomorrow is when students need to exchange their classroom home reading books.

Thank you.
Mrs. Kam

Food Donations ( a school wide activity promoted by our Do Good group)

Please donate if you are able.

Michael Bortolloto

Dear Parents,

We were also very fortunate to have Michael as a guest in our school on Wednesday. He is a motivational speaker, which comes from his own personal experience as someone living with Cerebral Palsy. He emphasized the importance of trying to get to know people , not just assuming what they are about by how they look on the outside. It was very powerful.

Garden Visit

Dear Parents,

We were fortunate to have lovely weather for our visit to Loutet Farm, where we collected seeds and did a bingo search for some of the various items and things growing in the garden. We will be going again later in the year.

Garden Visit on October 12

Dear Parents,

Hopefully you have all had a nice Thanksgiving weekend.

We have been given the opportunity to visit Loutet Farm this coming Wednesday after recess. More information will be coming, but in the interest of shortness of time, I am wondering if there is a parent who is interested or able to attend with us. It wil be for approximately 40 minutes.
Please let me know.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam
