Last few days
Dear Parents,

First, a big THANKS to Mei’s mom, Daynen’s mom, and Chloe’s dad for coming out to help with our Jingle Qalk yesterday. We were a little soggy at the end, but grateful for the generosity of the Brooksbank community in providing many donations. Truly appreciated.

Next 2 weeks
Dear Parents,
Wow- 2 weeks left!
This morning we are headed of to see the Nutcracker at Centennial Theatre.
Tomorrow will be our Christmas concert at Centennial Theatre (please see Brooksbank Bulletin for details) or feel free to check with us.
Wednesday night is our annual school wide Jingle Mingle! Lots of activities for kids, the Jingle Shop, treats for sale, baskets for auction, and more. (5-8 pm)
Friday- our Jingle Walk where we drop off flyers in the neighbor hood requesting donations.
Monday- our Jingle Walk pick up where we return to to the same route to collect any donations.

Ecology Centre visit
Today we had 2 guests from our local Ecology Centre come and talk about the forest, insects, and some of the temperatures and conditions at this time of year.


Reminders Nov. 12
Dear Parents,
You should now be able to log into signup genius to book a time for you and your child to have a conference with us next week. Please note the date that it will be open to, and after that date, any changes will have to go directly through myself or Mrs. Moxey.
Spelling- Unit 8 was sent home today.
Chess Club- notice went home today if your child wishes to sign up.
Nov. 20- next Outdoor Learning. We are still in need of volunteers.

Halloween Week
Dear Parents,
A few things about this week:
1. Scholastic- new flyers went out today, due back November 5
2. Halloween- students have a parade on Thursday at approximately 1:30. Costumes can be put on after lunch. Please do not bring anything that might be considered a weapon with costumes.
3. Nutcracker- a notice went home today, we will be going in early December.
4. Spelling- please practice
5. Outdoor Learning- next Wednesday- we are still In need of a couple of parent helpers.
6. We Scare Hunger- our Do Good group is still collecting donations of candy and food items if you are able.

Dear Parents,
We are off to a great start and looking forward to many upcoming events.
Some reminders:
1. Fees and Forms- please either do online or bring in as soon as possible, particularly for planners and walking field trip permission (Terry Fox Run).
2. Terry Fox Run- will be happening this Wednesday afternoon (rain or shine) so please send your child with appropriate clothing and footwear. Older students are also collecting donations for next couple of days.
3. Tuesday Sept. 24- we are having our Goodbye to Summer send-off. Students can wear their favourite t-shirt, shorts, hat and sunglasses and bring a beach towel to school.
4. Volunteer forms- reminder if you are able to volunteer in the class to please return orange forms to me by tomorrow (Tuesday)
5. Orange Shirt Day- next Monday

Welcome to Grade 2! Great to see some familiar faces, as well as some new ones for this coming school year.
There will be plenty of information as we move forward but next Tuesday September 17 is our Meet the Teacher night where Mrs. Moxey and I will be talking about many things related to the class and answering any questions you may have.
In the meantime, Fun Lunch ordering is now open.
As well, we are reminded to ask that any paperwork that we need to collect for the office be brought in when ready.

We were fortunate to have a guest come in and teach us some skill about ringette this week. Kids really enjoyed!
Reminders-
Please hunt down and return any overdue library books.
Mahon Park- parents that are driving, if you have not done so yet, please make sure you have ALL 5 pieces of paperwork in asap so we are not scrambling to get it in next Wednesday.
Friday is Aboriginal Day.
Cleaning up- please send your child with an extra bag, or plastic bag each day next week as we will be sending some additional items home.
Guided Reading- tomorrow will be the last day. Please also SEND BACK any remaining school home reading books that you have.

Past and Upcoming for June

Dear Parents,
Fun Day- a big thanks to Mrs. Dolan for leading the organization of all things Fun Day!
Bike to School- it was great to see all of the kids out with bikes and scooters for decorating and parading. Great show of support for a wonderful initiative.
Ice Cream Social- enjoyed getting to see many of you last night to get some scoops of ice cream. We TRULY APPRECIATE the help and support of families in a variety of capacities as we go about our day to day activities theoughout the school year.
KM Club- students have been working extra hard as we now enter our final week. At the end, students will get any remaining ribbons, as well as a certificate of their grand total.
Outdoor Learning- I am aiming for June 19
Mahon Park Year End- a reminder to please get permission forms in if you haven't yet.
Drivers- thank you in advance for your help. All of those that said they were able to drive will be needed. I sent home a notice with students this week listing some reminders of the various forms that the office requires us to have in. if you aren't sure what you may or may not have, please feel free to ask.
Choosing- we have now wrapped up for the year, but decided to do an Area B activity during that time last Tuesday. We went out to the grass field and played a game along the lines of capture the flag. The kids had a great time!

Outdoor Learning- looking for volunteers for next Wednesday May 8 between recess and lunch. You may contact me directly or via email.
Scholastic- orders due by May 7
May 6- Pro-d (no classes in session)
Social Studies- we have been talking about different landforms and waterbodies, both locally and globally(2's), and for grade 1's also starting to talk about local man-made features in the environment e.g. bridges, dams
I encourage you to talk about what some of these things might be, and well as some names of specific examples.
KM Club- we have now had our first ribbon ceremony and students are working hard to get to their next goal.
