Dear Parents,

A few things about this week:

Wed. Feb. 25- pink shirt day ( to promote inclusion and belonging), as well as our field trip to the symphony. Please help your child to be on time Wednesday morning.

100's Day- to be celebrated on Thursday. A notice should have gone home last week that looks like the following:

Students have 3 things to bring in. They should have only one of the food items circled.

Their hundreds collection to be sorted and counted with could be buttons,beans, Lego pieces, etc or a collection of their choice, but it needs to be separate from the the food item.

Multicultural Lunch- kids will be participating in activities on Friday, including a lunch, where students are invited to bring in foods to share. Also, Mrs. Faganello is looking for 2 helpers if possible to help with the lunch. Please let one of us know if you are available to help.

Week of Feb. 16

Dear Parents,

Here are some things we have been doing and some things coming up:

Social Studies- students were sent home with a sheet on comparing sounds and reasons for living in this community which is due back by Monday Feb. 23.

 

Spelling- a reminder to please help your child to have their spelling notebook with them on Monday mornings, especially as I have noticed a recent increase in the number of students who don't have them.

Math- we have been working this week on "doubles" eg. 9+7= 8+8, 6+7= 6+6+1

We will be moving next into some measurement

Reminder: next Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day, as well as our field trip to see the Symphony.

Next Friday is the school wide Multicultural celebration as outlined in the latest Brooksbank Bulletin.

As well, our recognition of 100's Day is coming up within the next week or so. We are asking students to have a collection of 100 items that can be sorted and counted. Please assist your child in starting to think about their collection. A notice will be coming out shortly with the date, and some further suggestions.

A reminder that Jump Rope for Heart money is due tomorrow as our jumping is happening tomorrow!

Tuesday February 17- I am looking for a parent volunteer to accompany us on a short neighbourhood walk as part of our Social Studies. I am looking at going just after lunch. Please let me know if you are interested.
