Week of May 23, 2017

Dear Parents,

First of all, have a lovely long weekend!

Next week we have been given the opportunity to have another visit to Loutet Farm on Wednesday just before lunch. Although the forecast looks a little more favourable, please help your child to dress appropriately, especially with footwear.

Next Friday is the PAC Parent Night Out.

KM Club- Monday May 29 is likely going to be our next ribbon day.

Reminder that Tuesday is our library day and students should be returning or renewing books.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam

Week of May 1

Dear Parents,

Yesterday we had our first KM Club Ribbon Ceremony! Each child in our class was able to receive their 10Km ribbon, with some also earning 25 and one student even getting 40km. Great start!

A reminder that Scholastic orders are due by Friday May 5.

School Supply List- the Edupac order form went home with students yesterday, and if you are planning to order through Edupac, orders need to be back by May 12.

May 10- we wil have another opportunity to visit Loutet Farm. It will be first thing in the morning, so please help your child to be on time.

Pencils- thank you to the parents who have been able supply some extra pencils, but we could still use some more if anyone has some.

We have been looking at some Poetry recently, if you are looking for book ideas when you take your child to the library. We will be having our visit soon with the librarian to talk about the Summer Reading Program.

This coming Monday May 8 is a Pro-d, so there will be no classes in session.

Thank you.
Sincerely, Mrs. Kam

April 11, 2017

Dear Parents,

It was a little soggy, but we got a good re-introduction to the Loutet Farm last week, getting a chance to measure some plant growth as well as matching seeds to what they grow into.

In Math, we have started a unit on graphing and data collection.

In Social Studies, we have recently started having a once a week visit with one of our Family of Schools teacher leader to work with us on making some connections between people and their environment, including some stories of the First Nations.

As part of Reading Awareness Week, the school has been host to a book sale, and we have also participated in a school wide story write in which each class contributes a paragraph. Today, we also did a teacher swap- I went to read a story with Ms. Tozer's class, and she came to read a story to our class!

Km Club is now up and running and hopefully we will continue to get more weather like we did today!

Ecology Center- a yellow form came home with information about an upcoming field trip. We will require parent drivers, so any help on that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam
