Week of January 26
January 28,
Dear Parents,
Yesterday students participated in a Discovery Day where they attended various workshops ranging from painting to pottery, visiting the library to dismantling and reassembling old electronics. They had some wonderful stories to share at the end of the day.
Math- please continue to support your children in practicing number stories. Eg. If 5+6= 11, then 11-6= 5 etc. We will be working on more subtraction coming up, as well as doubles (4+4=8, 5+5+2=12) as a means to make adding easier.
In Social Studies we have starting looking at community and neighbourhood.
Homework- many students will be coming home with a New Years Resolution sheet that needs to be COMPLETED and RETURNED to school by FRIDAY January 30. Students need to have at least 3 things that want to try or work on, and some of it needs to be school related, not just their recreational activities. Thank you.
Science- students are looking at Force and Motion. Exploring about things that can be pushed and pulled, and what affects that process.
Spelling- a reminder that students need their Spelling notebook on Monday mornings as we attach our spelling list to it, and do some work related to our words.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kam

Welcome Back!
January 6, 2015
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to you and your children! We hope you enjoyed the Christmas break.
This week and next students will be participating in tennis activities during their PE classes. Please help them to remember running shoes if possible on those days.
In Math, we are starting to look at adding and subtracting and the relationship between the two.
Eg. If 7-4= 3, then 4+3= 7
Choosing- this week we are switching over to new stations which will be introduced next week. We are asking students if they could please try to bring a shoebox, and small jar with a lid (label peeled off if possible) and any tube rolls such as from toilet paper, paper towel, or even wrapping paper.
Friday Jan. 9- Curriculum Implementation Day. - no classes for students
Thank you.
Mrs. Kam
